Hospital Volunteers: Support Brighton Through Volunteer Work
The hospital volunteer work program focuses on giving back to families and patients. Volunteers generously contribute their time to make Brighton Hospital a center of hope, healing and motivation for patients and families recovering from addiction. Since the volunteer program began, volunteers have been a significant part of new beginnings for many families.
Hospital Volunteering Examples:
• Assisting patients with locating Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings
• Volunteering in the Brighton Hospital Gift Shop
• Volunteering in the main office with collating, copying and data entry
• Greeting friends and family members on visiting days
• Helping to provide patients and families with information during the admission process
• Assisting with seasonal gardening
• Helping with special events
• Joining our Speakers Bureau
Hospital volunteering schedules are flexible and you can commit to as little as one day per month.
For more information on volunteering, complete and submit the Volunteer Application Form or contact the Volunteers Coordinator at 810-225-2527 or volunteer@brightonhospital.org to schedule an interview and campus tour.
Volunteer Voices
“I knew I wanted to work at Brighton and volunteering was the first step. I worked in admissions, coffee cart, family retreat, reading to patients – wherever they needed me. I’m hoping next to move into the position of milieu tech, which is to be a liaison between patients and the nursing staff” says Jennifer Cervi, who is part of Brighton’s Volunteer Re-Entry Program. This systemic progressive volunteer work builds trust, belief and empowerment into the lives of participants and fosters community commitment and individual responsibility within the hospital volunteers program.
